The best vinification begins with finding the best location. Napa Valley stands as one of the most celebrated winemaking regions in the world, and even amid such splendor, we are fortunate to sit atop 25 hallowed acres of earth that offer just the right conditions for our mission and our craft.
Bella Union was founded in 2012 under the provision of the established and venerated Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel wineries. Backed with the whole of their winemaking expertise and their knowledge of the Napa Valley region, we were able to secure our cornerstone parcel that yields the bulk of our unique and exciting Cabernet wine grapes. We then scout the valley to find the most complimentary flavors to create a harmonious union that redefines the standard for what fine blended Cabernet Sauvignon can be.
The lion’s share of our home vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small portion devoted to Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Our Rutherford, Napa Valley location offers an ideal combination of cool evenings and warm afternoons, which, in turn, allows the grapes to ripen fully and evenly. Our vineyards' well-draining, gravelly loam soils play an equally important role, contributing to the signature character of the vineyard. The fruit is intense, beautifully proportioned, and complex with aromatic ripe plum, black cherry, and currant flavors.
